The Billing Analysis Report brings together all of your firm’s key billing and productivity insights in one place. Instead of switching between multiple reports to track flat fees, time entries, and expenses, you can now review everything in a single, comprehensive view.

The Billing Analysis Report offers a detailed view of how each invoice line item progresses from Worked to Billed, displaying comparable columns that make it easy to analyze your firm’s billing activity.

Once a billable entry is created, it will appear in this report. All billable work (time entries, flat fees, expenses) will have information populated in the respective 'Worked' columns upon initial entry. The 'Worked' columns listed are:

  • Worked By

    • The Billed by user identified on the record (time entry, expense or flat fee).

  • Worked Item / Category

    • The item or category specified on the record.

    • You can click on this hyperlink to open the line item details.

    • This will only be clickable if there is a billable record tied to the matter.

Once a billable entry is invoiced, or if you add a line item directly to an invoice using in-line editing, it will automatically be reflected in this report. The Billed columns will populate with the relevant details for each item.

Filters

The Filters section gives you complete control over how you view and analyze your firm’s billing data. You can mix and match multiple filters to focus on the specific users, matters, or billing activity you want to review. Use the More Filters on the left to include additional filter fields beyond the default set.

Simply select the filters and filter values you wish to review and click Generate Report.

Billed By Summary

Once the report generates, you’ll see a Billed By Summary section. These summary cards serve as sub-filters, giving you a quick, high-level view of how each timekeeper or biller is performing across your results.

At a glance, you can see each user included in the report, along with key metrics such as:

  • Total hours billed on invoices.

  • Total amount of billable work performed.

  • Total amount of billable work invoiced.

Clicking one or more of these cards filters the Billed by Details grid to show results only for the selected users. Click a user’s card again will deselect it. To quickly clear all selections, click the Total card on the left side.

Use the left and right arrows on either side of the card carousel to scroll through your users. If any line items appear on invoices without an assigned Billed By user, they will be displayed in a separate card labeled N/A.

Billed By Details

The Billed By Details section provides a detailed, line-by-line breakdown of all worked and billed entries across your firm. Each row represents a specific time entry, expense, or flat fee associated with a user, giving you full visibility into the activity behind your totals.

This table helps you understand not just how much was worked and billed, but who billed it, for what, and when. It’s a powerful way to audit your billing data and trace back amounts to their original entries.

Line items listed will be dependent upon the filters you selected. You'll have insight into both worked and billed details about each line item. A number of columns are displayed by default, but you're able to customize your report to include additional, optional, columns for further analysis.

Export

Use the Export option to download your report data with all current filters and grid settings applied, allowing for further analysis or customization in Excel.

Export All Columns will export all available columns whether or not displayed in your grid. Export Current View will only export the columns you have displayed in your grid.

Saved Reports

Save your current filters and grid configuration for future reference using the Saved Reports option.

  • Click on Saved Reports to view a list of reports you have already saved for the Billing Analysis Report.

  • Click on a Saved Report name to launch that Saved Report in a new browser tab.

  • Click the + icon to create a new saved report using your current filters and column configurations.

Billing administrators can leverage the Billing Analysis Report in several ways:

  • Analyze activity by date range: Use the Worked/Billed Date filter to view all billable activity within a specific period (e.g., all work completed or billed this month).

  • Identify billing adjustments: Set the Status filter to Billed to compare the Worked and Billed columns, side by side, helping you identify any write-downs made during billing.

  • Find unbilled items: Apply the Worked Date and Billable status filters to highlight all billable entries within a given date range that haven’t yet been billed.
