Overview
The Review Bank Transactions feature in PantherAccounting Plus allows your firm to connect bank and credit card accounts directly to PracticePanther via Plaid — a secure, industry-standard bank connectivity service. Once connected, your transactions are automatically imported so you can:
Match transactions to existing payments already recorded in PracticePanther
Create new Contact Payments, Expenses, or Firm Payments directly from a transaction
Review and manage your full match history for each account
Exclude transactions not needed
Manage Your Bank Connections
Before you can view or match transactions, you need to connect your bank or credit card accounts to PantherAccounting Plus using Plaid. All of your bank connections are managed from a single Manage Bank Connections window, so you can connect, link, and review every bank in one place.
Navigate to Accounting > Review Bank Transactions in the top menu.
Click Manage Bank Connections, or click 'Connect' if you're viewing a bank account that hasn't been connected.
Connecting a New Bank
In the Manage Bank Connections window, click +Connect Bank.
Note: If you have existing connections select + Add a different bank in the top-right corner of the Manage Bank Connections window.
Plaid's connection wizard will open. Optionally enter your phone number, then search for and select your bank or financial institution.
Enter your bank login credentials in Plaid's secure login screen.
Select which bank accounts you'd like to connect to PracticePanther, then review and confirm the account information that will be shared (account information, balance, and transactions).
Click Finish.
Once connected, the bank will appear in the Manage Bank Connections window, with each connected Plaid account name and number.
Note: Only one connection per bank entity is permitted at this time.
Linking Accounts to PracticePanther
Once you are connected to your bank, you'll need to map each account to your corresponding bank account in PracticePanther:
For each connected Plaid account, use the dropdown on the right side of the row to search for and select the matching PracticePanther account.
Click Link.
Once linked you can close the Manage Bank Connection window. Your bank transactions will be viewable from the Review Bank Transactions page for the corresponding PracticePanther accounts.
Adding an Account to an Already-Connected Bank
If you need to connect an additional account from a bank you've already connected (for example, adding a savings account after you initially only connected checking):
Click the green + button to the right of that bank's header.
Plaid's account selection screen will open again.
Select the new account(s) you want to add.
Click Finish.
⚠️ Important: With some banks - including Chase and U.S. Bank - this flow will not automatically show your previously connected accounts as selected. If you only select the new account you're adding, you'll disconnect your previously connected accounts.
To ensure all of your accounts remain connected, remember to re-select every previously connected account in addition to the new account(s) before finishing the Plaid connection flow. When connecting accounts, we will display a "Keep your shared accounts selected" reminder during this step.
Most banks do not have this issue and will automatically keep your existing accounts checked, but it's worth double-checking every time you add an account.
Unlinking an Account
If you no longer want an account's transactions to import into the Review Bank Transactions page, you can unlink it without removing the bank connection:
In the Manage Bank Connections window, find the account and click Unlink.
Confirm by clicking Unlink in the confirmation modal.
Tip: Unlinking an account doesn't delete its match history. The account will simply stop appearing in Review Bank Transactions, and you can relink it again, at any time.
Disconnecting a Bank
Disconnecting a bank removes an entire bank connection and every connected linked account.
Click the dropdown arrow next to the green + button on the bank's header.
Select Disconnect Bank.
Type "Disconnect From Plaid" to confirm, then click Disconnect Bank.
⚠️ Important: Disconnecting a bank removes all linked PracticePanther accounts from that connection and permanently deletes every transaction that was imported. This action cannot be undone.
Note: If you disconnect (or unlink) an account, any Excluded Transaction history for that account will be lost. However, your previously matched transaction history is preserved and will remain if you reconnect the account at a later time.
Once you have connected your banks accounts, you can start reviewing your bank transactions and matching them with payments logged in PracticePanther.
