PracticePanther offers the ability to have invoice templates set for both Contacts and Matters to be used as their default templates.
How to set invoice template for Contacts and Matters
1) Navigate to the desired contact or matter and select the edit option.
Note: this can also be done when creating a new contact or matter.
2) Scroll down to the details for the contact or matter and click in the field for "Invoice Template". In matters this will be seen in the "Billing" section.
3) Select the template you would like to use for this contact or matter.
4) Click "Save".
What happens now?
Whenever you create a single invoice, the selected default invoice template will automatically be selected on the invoice create screen.
🌟 Important Note: When generating batch invoices the invoice template you select in the batch invoice process will be prioritized over the one selected on the contact or matter.
Q: What if I only have an invoice template set for my Contact but not my matter for single invoicing?
For matter-level invoicing, single invoices will utilize the template for the contact if the matter field is blank. If both are left blank, the invoice will default to the firm-level default invoice template.
Q: Can I still create invoices in batch and the program use my set template?
No. When generating batch invoices the invoice template you select in the batch invoice process will be prioritized over the one selected on the contact or matter.
Q: What if I don't have any invoice template selected for my contact or matter?
Then the system will feed off of the default invoice template you have set for your entire firm which can be found here. You will know it's the default template by the indicator next to the name.
